Foreign tourist flow in Peru will total 3.7 million in 2016, a 42% increase compared to the same period five years ago, Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Magali Silva projected.

"This means the number of tourists coming to the country may have increased by 1.1 million, during the current administration, thanks to campaigns promoting Peru as destination," Silva indicated.

Greatest flows of international tourists are mainly composed of Chilean tourists (800,000), followed by those arriving from the U.S (500,000).

On average, travelers stay on national territory for 10 nights and spend US$985.

As is known, Jorge Chavez International Airport remains the main point of entry to the country.
