Foreign tourists spent US$835 million in Peru over 2016's first quarter, a 6.6% growth from the same period the year before, Peru’s Central Reserve Bank (BCR) reported on Wednesday.
The result was possible thanks to an increase in tourist arrivals (6.4%).
Thus, tourism expenditure accounted for more than half (55%) of national service exports.
According to BCR, service exports amounted to US$1.521 billion in the three-month period and led to a 3.4% increase.
