Peru's Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Magali Silva is set to attend the next Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Ministerial Meeting, to be held from 19-20 May, 2014 in Singapore.

Likewise, the minister will travel to the city of Qingdao, in China to take part of the Minister Responsible for Trade (MRT) meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).

Silva will attend these meetings, which runs from 17 May through 18th May, in order to concrete progress in trade relations and take needed high-level decisions to conclude negotiations for an ambitious Asia-Pacific free trade agreement.

Peruvian Agriculture and Irrigation Minister, Juan Manuel Benites, will be in charge of the country's Foreign Trade and Tourism sector (Mincetur) during the upcoming Silva's official trip.

This TPP meeting follow ministerial negotiating sessions held in February in Singapore, where TPP members states failed to conclude a deal, mainly due to disagreement between Japan and the United States over issues of market access for agricultural products and autos.

The trade pact is being negotiated by 12 countries, namely Australia, Brunei, Chile, Canada, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the United States and Vietnam.

When the TPP is signed, due later this year, it will enhance trade and investment among the TPP partner countries, promote innovation, economic growth and development, and support the creation and retention of jobs.
