Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Magali Silva will participate in the Trans-Pacific Partnership Trade Ministers’ Meeting to be hosted by the United States in Maui, Hawaii from 28-31 July 2015.

The negotiation process –involving countries in America, Asia and Oceania– seeks to become the foundation and the mean through which the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP) will be established.

The meeting is intended to debate and take decisions in order to conclude the negotiation process; it also looks for an inclusive and high quality agreement to support  economic growth, development and creation of jobs in member countries.

Silva's participation will serve to strengthen Peru’s presence in the Asia-Pacific, a zone of great importance for the country, which also gives a diversified market for the development of new export products.

The government official’s trip was approved by the Presidency of the Peruvian Council of Ministers through Supreme Resolution No 191-2015-PCM, published today in the official gazette El Peruano.

Housing, Construction and Sanitation Minister Milton von Hesse Serna will take over the Foreign Trade and Tourism portfolio, while Silva is absent.
