11:03 | Lima, Aug. 7.

The Foreign Affairs Ministers meeting taking place in Lima on Tuesday will be geared towards reaching a joint stance in the wake of Venezuela's crisis, the Inca country's Interior Minister Carlos Basombrio affirmed.

"The spirit of the meeting is to identify the most suitable measures for Latin America to give a collective response to the situation in Venezuela," he said.

Speaking on behalf of the Peruvian Executive, the government official noted Peru —and most countries in the region— see Nicolas Maduro's actions as "a clear betrayal of democratic order in Venezuela."

Lima will thus welcome 18 Foreign Ministers on Tuesday for a meeting convened by the Peruvian Government.

As a political observer, Minister Basombrio estimated Maduro's administration is doomed to end given recent events: the military uprising, international isolation and, above all, the state of misery to which Maduro is subjecting his people.

"We are living a tragedy of huge proportions and every democrat must aspire a [government] transition, hopefully a pacific one," he concluded.
