According to new figures released Wednesday by the Central Reserve Bank, Peru is likely to report the lowest inflation rate in Latin America this year and in 2015.

"Inflation this year will remain between 2.9 and three percent, and two percent in 2015," BCR President Julio Velarde noted.

The economist highlighted Peru has by far the lowest inflation in Latin America this year and this trend is expected to continue in 2015.

"That is why it is not fair to say the country is facing high inflation rates when it reaches lowest level in Latin America and one of the lowest among emerging markets," he pointed out.

Verlarde claimed inflation without energy and food has remained within the issuing entity’s target range (between 1% and 3%) for more than five years, month after month.
