Peru's mining projects Michiquillay, Colca and Jalaoca will be promoted in Canada's premier international event for the mineral industry PDAC, the Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversion) announced on Wednesday.

The annual Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Convention, taking place in Toronto on March 5-8, convenes the largest mining companies on the look for investment in the world.

"We have two mining prospects in Apurimac region: Colca and Jalaoca. They are almost first in a list of future projects eligible to be presented under the same framework [option contract]. They are polymetallic and require exploration," ProInversion Executive Director Gonzalo Quijandria affirmed.

Ventures to be showcased at the PDAC event also include polymetallic Michiquillay, a "world-class mining project of major interest for the sector."

He went on to add the Cajamarca region-based mine offers "not only the general panorama, but also concrete projects to the investor."

In this respect, Quijandria anticipated ProInversion has already received a private initiative, which is currently underway.

In accordance with legislation, information on said initiative cannot be disclosed until the declaration of interest is approved, which ProInversion expects will happen "in coming weeks."

The ProInversion representative said he is confident the said project will be awarded this year.

Remarks were made at the presentation of Peru's Mining & Metals Investment Guide 2017/2018 at the Foreign Affairs Ministry headquarters. The event was organized by ProInversion, the Foreign Ministry and international firm EY.
