Peru will promote the country’s exportable food supply, tourism and gastronomy at Expo Milano 2015, Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Magali Silva affirmed.

"The participation is the result of the work carried out by Peru's Commercial Office [OCEX] located in Milan and Promperú [Peru’s Export and Tourism Promotion Board]. We will be [also] present at specialized food exhibitions such as Tuttofood, Food Innovation and Macfrut," she indicated.

The 2,300-square-meter exhibition pavilion is located near the Museum of Cultures in Milan. It is expected to attract thousands of visitors, who will have the opportunity to discover the richness of our country.

Silva highlighted the museum is a favorable location to put our products on display, since it serves as a center for disseminating information among several cultures, without forgetting scientific research and entertainment.

The MUDEC academy is attached to the Museum. It offers youngsters learning programs and workshops. Thus, it will become a proper site for gastronomic classes on Peruvian cuisine to be held. In this sense, Peru's pavilion will be present at the fair from June 12 to September 15.

Products to be put on display are coffee, Andean cereal, cocoa and fruits from the rainforest, among others. Those will be joined by a picture collection featuring Peru’s marvelous valleys and main touristic destinations.

"Pisco & Ceviche Bar" will be a special area, where the national drink Pisco and the famous ceviche will be offered to attendees. Also, other hydro biological products to be exhibited are cuttlefish, shrimps and trout.

Quinoa, which total exports amounted to US$20 million (2014), is one of the products expected to stand out at the said event.

According to its official website, Expo Milano 2015 will address the "problems of nutrition and the resources of our planet." It will also focus on promoting sustainable agriculture, new production technologies, water conservation and respect for biodiversity, among others.
