The Organization of American States (OAS) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru will hold the seminar "Strategic Coordination between Governments and Civil Society for the Integral Protection of Victims of Trafficking in Persons" on September 11 in Lima, Peru.

The event will count with the participation of representatives of governments of the region and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) that work in this field.

The two-day program aims at promoting the dialogue and exchange of views at the regional and subregional levels on existing coordination strategies between governments, civil society and the international community to prevent human trafficking and protect the victims.

The seminar seeks to create a space for dialogue to analyze the behavior patterns that follow traffickers or organized crime in the mobilization and exploitation of victims, and to explore possible topics of interest to consider as part of the Work Plan against Trafficking in Persons in the Western Hemisphere, that could be addressed at the Fourth Meeting of National Authorities on Trafficking in Persons, to be held in 2015.

The seminar will feature recognized experts on the issue of victim protection, as well as representatives of the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Free the Slaves (Haiti and South-East Asia), the “Comisión Pastoral de la Tierra”, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Organization of Women Miners in Guyana, and the Yanapanacusun Center, among others.
