Peru to host Mistura food festival on Sept. 5-11

Mistura, the largest food festival in South America, will take place for the seventh year in Peru's capital city of Lima from September 5 to 11, 2014, the Peruvian Gastronomy Association (Apega) has announced.

More than a half million people are expected to attend the 10-day festival, including chefs and foodies from all around the world.

Event organizers Apega also hope to attract over 25,000 foreign tourists, mostly from the United States, Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil.

For a second year, Mistura, which means mixture, will be held seaside on the Costa Verde of Magdalena del Mar, a short distance north of the popular Miraflores district.

Established in 2007, Apega aims to promote Peruvian cuisine as a basis for cultural identity and as a factor in the economic development, progress and wellbeing of all Peruvians.
