Top government officials will travel to India for a year-end road show aimed at highlighting Peru’s investment opportunities, its commercial offerings and sound economic growth, the nation’s private investment promotion agency ProInversion has said
“There are real prospects of going to India by year-end, though this trade initiative is currently in draft form,” said Javier Illescas, Executive Director of the state-run entity.

He noted that a trade mission set for September will be carried out in Canada with goal of promoting products and discussing investment and trade opportunities which Peru offers.

Furthermore, Illescas recalled the Ollanta Humala administration, through its ministry in charge of Foreign Trade (Mincetur), is set to kick off negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the Indian government.

“Topics on the agenda between the two countries regarding the above matter will be addressed in a two-way meeting scheduled for August this year,” ProInversion’s head said in statements to Andina news agency.

Peru’s leading executives alongside government officials in March went to a road show event in New York, United States, where economic developments and investment opportunities in the Andean country were showcased.

The said trade event was organized by inPERU -a non-profit Peruvian association which represents all major institutions related to the country’s financial markets- and brought together more than top 500 investors from the North American nation.
