Peru aims at becoming one of the Asian market's main fresh produce suppliers, Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Magali Silva affirmed.
It must be noted the first Hass avocado container recently arrived in China after passing the phytosanitary inspections carried out by Chinese authorities.
"Within a few years, Peruvian avocados will become one of the Chinese people's favorite foodstuffs, as has been the case of red globe grapes [...]. With regard to fresh produce, Peru aims at positioning itself as one of the Asian market's main suppliers," Silva told.
It should be noted Peru began to export grapes during the first campaign. Seven years have passed, during (2014/2015) campaign over 4,000 grape containers arrived in China.
On the other hand, an intensive work will be undertaken to promote and consolidate Peruvian avocados on the Asian giant's market. Efforts will be carried out by Peru's Trade Offices based in Beijing and Shanghai, along with the private sector.
