Adventure cruise pioneer Lindblad Expeditions has announced a new itinerary that features stops at the archaeological site of Chan Chan and an island near the coast of Peru.

Passengers will have the chance to embark National Geographic Explorer on a multifaceted voyage through the historic Panama Canal, and on to remarkable, seldom-visited places along the Pacific coasts of Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.

On this expedition and, in addition to the tourist sites in the other three countries, tourists will visit the ancient sites of Chan Chan, the capital of the Chimu Kingdom, which was once the world’s largest adobe city and fell to the Incas in the 15th century.

Before the 14-day trip ends in Lima, passengers will stop in the northern coast of Peru to see the Temples of the Sun and Moon, built by the Moche people.

"In Peru, enter the desert oasis of Trujillo, founded by Pizarro and still full of Spanish colonial charm; and nearby explore the sacred Incan Moche Valley and its famous Temples, unearthed in from desert sands by archeologists in 1936," it was stated in the company's website.

Furthermore, the expedition-style Explorer will stop at Isla Lobos de Tierra off the Peruvian coast.

The "Coastal Treasures" itinerary will also include stops in several national parks and wilderness areas to observe unique bird and marine life; kayak, swim, and snorkel from pristine beaches along the coast of the four countries.
