The Governments of Peru and Spain signed a memorandum of understanding on infrastructure and transport aimed at improving professional skills and implementing modern technologies for such projects in the South American country.
The document was inked by Peru's Transport and Communications Minister (MTC) Bruno Giuffra and Spain's Public Works Minister Iñigo de la Serna Hernaiz at the Presidency of the Council Ministers headquarters in Lima on Monday.
According to MTC, the memorandum of understanding aims at boosting cooperation ties between both nations in the fields of infrastructure and transport.
Within this framework, the objective is to improve professional skills, as well as implement modern and suitable technologies for transport management in the Andean nation.
The agreement has an initial duration of five years and may be renewed for successive one-year periods.
Likewise, Peru's Prime Minister Mercedes Araoz underscored that joining efforts —while relying on the best technologies— will lead to carrying out "proper, effective and efficient investment, in order to provide the best public service to our population."
"Spain and Peru share an increasingly rich history […]," she said on the occasion.
The ceremony also saw the presence of Spanish Ambassador to Lima Ernesto de Zulueta Habsburgo-Lorena and Peruvian Deputy Transport Minister Rafael Guarderas, among other authorities.
