On June 25, the National Program of Direct Support to the Poorest (Juntos) began to issue payments to 732,521 previously-registered households.

‘Juntos’ is a government conditional transfer program for those livingin poverty, which provides families with S/.200 (about US$63) every twomonths.

The money has been transferred to beneficiaries, who hold savingsaccounts. It is withdrawn at State-run Banco de la Nacion'sbank branches. Starting July 06 other mechanisms  will enter into force.

For people to receive their incentives, once at the bank, they must show their identification cards (IDs) to the cashiers.

To date, the program has been benefitting 833,681 low-incomehouseholds. Nonetheless, only 732,541 will be allow to cash their incentives. The parents from the remaining 101,140 households will not be allowed to receive any money, since they did not manage to send their children to school or to medical check-ups, as was established.

Likewise, female in those households are required to receive prenatal care.

On the third stage, the program will invest S/.146,482,646 (about US$46,502,427) for the benefit of families residing in territorial units located in 15 Peruvian regions.
