Peru set a public investment execution record of S/.115.4 billion (about US$35.9 billion) in the last 49 month period, the Economy and Finance Ministry (MEF) informed.

According to MEF General Directorate of Public Investment – DGIP, the amount exceeds the quantity registered in previous 10 years: S/.109.5 billion (about US$34 billion).

“The performance is equivalent to an execution that exceeds by 51% the public investment carried out in the previous [presidential] term (August 2006 to July 2011), which was S/.76.592 billion (about US$23.830 billion) and is 5% higher than the combined amount of the past two administrations.

In the last 49 months Peru has used 74% of its public investment budget –a record proportion– more than the 60% used in the previous term (August 2006 to July 2011).

Current figures also surpass that of the August 2001-July 2006 period, when Peru used 64% of its public investment budget.

This record growth is by driven by the increased public investment budget and the greater capacity of execution.
