Peruvian companies closed US$ 140 million in business deals at its two trade fairs held in China’s leading commercial hub cities of Beijing and Shangai, the country’s Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry (Mincetur) said Friday.
Magali Silva, Mincetur’s head, noted the first the Peru first round was held at Park Hyatt Hotel Convention Centre in Beijing and was overtaken by a total of US$ 70 million in the first round.
More than 60 entrepreneurs not only from China but also from Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and Hong Kong attended the recent business conference, which took place in Shanghai.
"There were 930 business meetings and this on was the first time we have brought tourism offerings," Silva said.
The Peruvian minister went on note the most popular sought after products at this time were grapes, citrus and asparagus.
Other products demanded at Expo Peru in China, were food, including dried fruits and vegetables, plus maca and quinoa, as well as new fish products, such as trout.
