The film ‘The Vanished Elephant’, from the director Javier Fuentes-Leon, has been named Peru’s submission to next year's Goya Awards, Spain's top film honors, for a Best Ibero-American Film nomination.

"We have selected the Vanished Elephant for being an original and attractive story of love and loss", reads a statement from the Peruvian Culture of Ministry.

The psychological thriller features a cast of talented stars, including Salvador del Solar, Angie Cepeda, Lucho Caceres, Tatiana Astengo, Vanessa Saba and Andres Parra.

"The Vanished Elephant’ tells the story of a crime novelist (Salvador del Solar) whose fiancée has been missing for seven years. He is given a clue to the mystery by a woman (Angie Cepeda) whose ex-husband died the same day the writer’s betrothed vanished.

The film was recently premiered at the 2014 Toronto Film Festival and tickets for the picks screening at the event were sold out during three consecutive days.

The Goya Awards are Spain’s most prestigious and well known cinematic accolades. They are considered to be the Spanish equivalent of the American Academy Awards or Oscars.
