Peru selects Telcordia as portability admin

Telcordia Tecnologies has won a tender launched by Peruvian telecoms regulator Osiptel to serve as administrator of the country's mobile and fixed number portability system.

Informatica El Corte Ingles, Indra and Mediafon also participated in the tender, reports Telecompaper.com.

Peru plans to launch its number portability system in July. Peruvian users will be able to port their number free of charge, in one working day.

Telcordia already manages the number portability system in Chile, Argentina, Mexico, as well as Greece, Saudi Arabia, Lithuania, Pakistan, South Africa, Egypt, Malaysia, Turkey, India, Thailand, UAE, and Nigeria.
