The 10th edition of Sea Festival, or Yacumama, will host 50 tour operators from Cusco, Cajamarca, Ayacucho and Lima on May 27-28.

Announcement was made by Paracas' Tourism and Foreign Trade Chamber (Capatur) President Eduardo Jauregui, who said tour operators have shown their interest in the activity.

It will help them compete with other religious observances across the country.

Jauregui affirmed "Yacumama is a commitment to nature and the care it deserves, since the sea provides us with abundant bounties and resources along the coastline which, in the end, benefit locals and are highly recognized by foreign countries."

"We will head to the Candelabra geoglyph, declared a National Cultural Heritage, where our shaman will perform a ritual and pay his respects to the environment," he continued.

Capatur's head emphasized the commitment to the Peruvian sea, hailed as one of the richest in the world.

He also explained locals will stop their everyday activities to participate in the long-awaited event.

Activities will kick off on Saturday, May 27, with a musical performance featuring folkloric group Antologia.

Visitors will be able to enjoy Paracas Desert bounties as they take dune buggy rides.
