Peruvian Education Minister Jaime Saavedra said Peru has a large and healthy scholarship program, which is taken as a State policy in order to provide greater development opportunities for the youth and the country.

“As a country we can say we have a large and healthy national scholarship program, which is a permanent State policy and one of the major scholarship programs in Latin America,” he said during a farewell ceremony organized for 83 Peruvian scholars pursuing higher education in France.

The Education Ministry’s head congratulated the young students for qualifying to receive the grant, and said this represents the effort of students and their relatives.

“This opens a whole world of opportunities for you and the country,” he said during the ceremony held on Monday afternoon at the Lima-based Government Palace.

To Saavedra, the application of students’ knowledge in Peru is important in order to enhance the country’s development.

“The idea is to make sure that young people like you can have the chance to develop and contribute to the development of the nation,” he underlined.

At the ceremony, scholar Luis Fernando Phocco Laguna, 18, born in Sicuani, located in Canchis province of Cusco region, thanked the government and highlighted the current education policy.
