The current copper price rise generates a better panorama for mining entrepreneurs, thus the Peruvian State will rely on more resources for basic services infrastructure implementation, First Vice-President Martin Vizcarra affirmed Tuesday.
"Since yesterday, I have been witnessing enthusiasm among all participants," Vizcarra expressed.
"The prospects are better when one of the main Peruvian minerals, such as copper, costs almost US$3 per pound, and not US$2, as was the case during 2015's Perumin," he added.
According to Mr. Vizcarra, resources generated from mining activities should be oriented to the spheres that truly need them to improve infrastructure, basic services, housing, health and education sectors.
In this regard, the Vice-President concluded by stressing the importance of mining projects involving surrounding populations in order to enhance relationships with communities and prevent misinformation.
Perumin
The Perumin 33rd Mining Convention takes place at the National University of Saint Agustin (UNSA) campus in southern city of Arequipa on September 18-22.
At the convention, professionals are able to share their knowledge on technological advances and experiences, thus contributing to competitiveness and sustainable development of Peru's mining activities.
Featuring over 1,400 stands, Perumin is expected to welcome more than 70,000 attendees. Likewise, this year's edition sees the participation of 28 countries from around the globe.
Perumin has consolidated itself as the most-attended event of its kind thanks to the number of international delegations, government authorities, and range of offer.
Since its creation in 1954, the biennial meeting has worked on technological research promotion, innovation and application.
