Peru retains third position on the Doing Business aggregate ranking among Latin American nations after ending 54th on the global level, the Doing Business 2017: Equal Opportunity for All ranking (DB2017) revealed on Tuesday.

Thus, Peru consolidated its 54th position and claimed 70.25 points, above Chile (57), Costa Rica (62), Panama (70), Uruguay (90), Paraguay (106), Argentina (116) and Brazil (123).

The Andean nation also topped Greece (61), Mongolia (64), China (78) and Indonesia (91).

However, regarding Latin America, Peru ranked below Mexico (47) and Colombia (53).

Peru's results

Most notably among Peru's results on ease of doing business is the tax reform associated with less costly taxes for businesses.

According to the WBG report, the Inca nation climbed two positions in the ‘Paying Taxes’ indicator, from 107 to 105.

Peru also recorded slight improvement in ‘Registering Property’, from 38 to 37.

Nevertheless, it dropped in the following indicators: ‘Starting a business’ (from 94 to 103), ‘Dealing with Construction Permits’ (from 48 to 51), ‘Getting Electricity’ (from 56 to 62), ‘Getting Credit’ (from 14 to 16) ‘Protecting Minority Investors’ (from 51 to 53), ‘Enforcing Contracts’ (from 62 to 63) and ‘Resolving Insolvency’ (from 77 to 79).

Finally, it retained the 86th position regarding ‘Trading Across Borders’.
