Peru ready to compete at South American volleyball competition

Peru's youth volleyball squad will compete at the South American U20 Women's Championship taking place in Uberada (Brazil) on October 26-30.

Organized by South America's Volleyball Confederation, the event will host six countries that will play in a round robin all-against-all format. 

National athletes will make their debut against Uruguayan counterpart on Wednesday. They will face Chileans on the next day. Inca sportswomen will have to defeat Argentinean and Paraguayan squads on October 29-30.

Finally, Peru will face local team Brazil on Sunday.

The national squad is composed of: Katherine Regalado (captain), Aixa Vigil, Flavia Montes, Valeria Takeda, Nayeli Vilchez, Kiara Montes, Claudia Palza, Lucia Magallanes, Diana de la Peña, Leslie Leyva, Isabella Sanchez, Andrea Villegas, Hannah Sobrado and Coraima Hidalgo.

Peru grabbed four gold, nine silver and five bronze medals in such tournaments. It ended second back in 2014.

It must be noted the winning delegation will qualify for the FIVB Volleyball Women's U20 World Championship taking place in Boca del Rio and Cordoba (Mexico) on July 7-16 next year.
