The Executive Power will request to be granted legislative powers by Congress, in order to issue regulations on social, economic and administrative matters, the President of the Council of Ministers Pedro Cateriano said.

During his presentation before Congress to explain his administration’s guidelines, Cateriano said the measure intends to “optimize the processes performed at Ministries, public agencies and regulatory bodies.”

Likewise, the Executive Branch also intends to speed up investments and establish public-private partnerships (PPP), he added.

Prime Minister Cateriano seeks a vote of confidence today.

Cateriano Bellido was sworn in as Humala’s new Cabinet Chief on April 2, after his predecessor, Ana Jara, resigned her post in view of the censure motion brought by lawmakers.

Peru’s Prime Minister has held meetings with different politicians, businessmen and civil society representatives before speaking at the Congress.
