Peru’s President Ollanta Humala paid a visit to the Marañon province (Peru’s Huanuco region), where he announced lifting the State of Emergency imposed on the Alto Huallaga zone and in force over the last 30 years.

While meeting with the residents, Defense Minister Jakke Valakivi presented four former military bases to be operated by Peruvian National Police members.

The activity took place this afternoon in the Yanajanca population center located in the Cholon district belonging to the Maranon province.

The Head of State was also accompanied by Interior Minister Jose Luis Perez Guadalupe and high-ranking Peruvian military officers.
