Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Tuesday traveled to Piura region to assess the state of affairs following natural disasters unleashed in this northern area.

As is known, the region was lashed by the overflowing of Piura River last Monday.

In this sense, the Head of State announced the government will send equipment to corresponding affected areas.

Likewise, Peru's top official estimated there are between 15,000 and 20,000 people displaced from their homes. Thus, he noted "there is much work to be done."

Said work will firstly focus on tackling emergencies. The second step is to rebuild Piura's urbanization.
