Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski will today meet with United States President Donald Trump and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on U.S. soil.

First, the Head of State will hold a working meeting with Mr. Guterres at U.N. headquarters in New York City at 09:30 AM (local time). He will be joined by Foreign Affairs Minister Ricardo Luna.

Peru's new role in Latin America is one of the main topics that will be addressed at the event, especially since the South American country intends to become a non-permanent U.N. Security Council member.

Under the U.N. Charter, the Security Council has primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security.

Likewise, Mr. Kuczynski and Mr. Guterres will address the national process for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals, which match the current Peruvian administration's policies.

U.S. President

Later, President Kuczynski will meet with U.S. counterpart Donald Trump at the White House in Washington D.C. at 3.00 PM (local time).

Mr. Kuczynski and Mr. Trump will first hold a 15-minute private audience, followed by a 25-minute meeting to be also attended by Minister Luna and high-ranking officials from both countries.

Leaders will address bilateral relations linked to the strengthening of diplomatic relations and democracy across the region, as well as trade.

The U.S. economy comprises a relevant matter given that the North American country is currently Peru's second-largest exports destination.

Within this framework, President Kuczynski will become the first Latin American Head of State to meet with President Trump, who took office on January 20.

As is known, Mr. Trump invited Mr. Kuczynski to meet in the United States during a phone conversation on February 12.

Princeton University

The Head of State will participate in the conference titled "A New Age for Latin America" to be hosted by the prestigious Princeton University on February 25 at 09:00 AM (local time).

As is known, Mr. Kuczynski earned a Master's in Public Affairs in 1961 from Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.

He will also receive the James Madison medal on campus during Alumni Day activities on Saturday.
