Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, along with ministers, will hold the first meeting with Peru’s Northern Macro Region authorities on Friday, Prime Minister Fernando Zavala announced today.

The Northern Macro Region is composed of: Tumbes, Piura, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Cajamarca, San Martin, Amazonas and Ancash.

Set to take place in the city of Cajamarca, the gathering will serve to address a common work agenda for regions' progress.

Zavala confirmed attendance to the event during a press conference from the Government Palace following the ninth Council of Ministers session.

"On Friday afternoon, we will travel to Cajamarca, from Jaen, and hold the first working meeting with the Northern Macro Region, just like we did with Southern and Center Macro Regions. We’ll set out a work agenda along with governors," Zavala told reporters.

The visit will kick off sooner with the arrival in Cajamarca region's Jaen city, where the ministerial cabinet will inaugurate flights to connect the said area with other metropolises.

"The first flight to Jaen will also help connect Peruvians and boost tourism," the Prime Minister said in this sense.

"[...] and later we’ll analyze the situation of the health sector there," he indicated.

Binational Peru-Ecuador Cabinet

Zavala also mentioned the agenda related to the 10th Peru-Ecuador Binational Cabinet taking place on Ecuadorian soil on October 7. The event will serve to discuss topics and joint objectives.

He went on to add Ecuador has proposed five work axes: Social affairs; security and defense; productivity and tourism; environmental, energy and mining issues; connectivity and infrastructure.
