Peru’s Head of State, Ollanta Humala, today saluted and thanked the "unity" and the "support" shown by political forces and Congress to the Peruvian position in regards to the complaint of espionage in favor of Chile.

He also reaffirmed the Peruvian government has a “unanimous” position towards the case.

“The government position is unanimous, apart from the noise, which may have been heard during these days [...], and we salute the unity demonstrated by political forces. We have received the support from the political forces, and that is important,” the Head of State expressed.

On his judgment, this constitutes an example of unity, not only inside the nation, but also towards Chile. The Southern country's government issued a response that did not satisfy the Peruvian request.
According to the President, Chile will be sent an energetic response.

“Peru at hard times unifies, we don’t divide. This is fundamental and all institutions in the country, whether public or private, have to join on this task […]. In that task are [included] all political forces and we, truly, thank that,” he pointed out.

He reminded the Republic’s President is the one, who heads the country’s foreign policy.

He added the Chancellery is the institution, which supports on this matter.

Thus, the case of three non-commissioned naval officers involving in espionage, in favor of Chile, is being assessed jointly, he said.

Likewise, Mr. Humala affirmed a meeting for dialogue could be convened at any moment. It will aim at discussing the affair.

The President highlighted the communication with the Republic’s Congress is “constant.”

We have convened [all political forces], and he have informed those how things are. We are in permanent communication with the Congress of the Republic, which is the other channel we have to communicate the actions we carry out,” Mr. Humala pointed out.

President Humala made those statements after inaugurating the improvement works on the educational institutions in the Yunga district, located in the General Sanchez Cerro province (Moquegua region).
