Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski complimented the National Police for seizing 20 tons of drugs in the Valley of Apurimac, Ene and Mantaro rivers (Vraem).
Speaking from Mazamari air base in Junin region, the Peruvian leader underscored the fight against drugs poses an arduous and permanent task, which is yielding much
better results this year.
"20 tons of
cocaine have been seized so far, out of the estimated 400 tons produced each year, but at the rate things are going, a much larger amount of drugs is expected to be seized," the Head of State underlined.
"I want to congratulate the Police for their work; I know this is a tough task, but we are making progress step by step. I want to thank them for their work," he said.
Kuczynski took part in the presentation of
seized drugs, armaments, vehicles and communication devices, weighing nearly a ton in total.
After the activity, the top official headed to Pasco region, where he is set to meet regional governors and start road construction works.
