Peru's President Ollanta Humala expressed countries —which caused most harm to the planet— must financially contribute to mitigation efforts against global warming impacts.

"Countries, which caused most harm to the planet, must take out their wallets and put money to fight global warming," President Humala said.

"We are also financially contributing, although we are not [the countries], which have done most damage to the planet," he stressed during his intervention at the COP21 Peruvian Pavilion opening ceremony in Paris.

The said pavilion is a graphic and living proof of the Peruvian Government and its people's commitment to face climate change, Peru's Government Palace stressed.

During the ceremony, the Head of State underlined Peru's people bet on fighting against this phenomenon, being the reason why it hosted the COP20 last December. Recently, Peru handed over the post to France.

According to Mr. Humala, global warming is a "serious issue." Thus, visualizing it is necessary in order to make nations aware of the problem.

Within that framework, Peru has set measurable goals, essentially on issues related to illegal forest logging, as well as deforestation.

Besides, the President stressed "Sierra del Divisor" National Park creation, an over 300,000-hectare territory, comprised in Peruvian contribution to planet protection.
