Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Tuesday held an audience with the parents of Venezuela's imprisoned opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez.

Thus, the Head of State met with Leopoldo Lopez Gil and Antonieta Mendoza.

The gathering was also attended by former Spanish President Jose Maria Aznar.

As is known, Harvard-trained Lopez was accused of inciting violence during anti-Maduro demonstrations, while seeking for democratic change in his homeland, Venezuela.

The 46-year-old has been in custody since 18 February 2014, when he turned himself in to authorities.

Venezuela currently faces political, social and economic crisis, which has led to protests against the Maduro regime.

Mr. Kuczynski has expressed concern over the Bolivarian nation's situation on more than one occasion.
