Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Friday announced he will head to the Vatican to meet with Pope Francis in September this year.
According to protocol, the Head of State must fly to the Vatican to extend a personal invitation for
Pope Francis to visit the Inca nation on January 18-21.
"I sent you a letter of invitation, and he replied: your visit is being organized," the 78-year-old commented.
Mr. Kuczynski's trip to the Holy See will follow his participation at the UN General Assembly session, in New York, which he describes as important in light of the problems facing Venezuela.
Peru was included in Pope Francis' upcoming South American tour in January 2018.
Pope's visit arrangements are being handled by Labor and Employment Promotion Minister Alfonso Grados, on behalf of the Government.
Other trips
Similarly, Mr. Kuczynski confirmed his visit to Omate in Moquegua region. Plus, he is expected to take part in Arequipa and Huanuco foundation anniversary activities.
Likewise, the statesman ratified his attendance at Expoamazonica fair in Tarapoto and Moyobamba cities.
The Peruvian Commander-in-Chief affirmed he is in good health and plans to hike up Chachani or Coropuna hills, for which he needs to train in advance.
