Works executed on Jaen province-based airport will contribute to northern Cajamarca region's economic sustainability and development, Peruvian President Ollanta Humala Tasso announced.
The Head of State also indicated such regional area hosts vast crops of rice, coffee and cacao. Besides, it shelters a thriving middle class, where a transportation system is needed.
"This project will solve the air transportation issue and favor people residing not only in Jaen, but also those living in San Ignacio and Cutervo provinces [...]," he said.
During President Humala's time in office, over S/5.00 billion (US$1.51 billion) was invested in Cajamarca's roads, high performance schools, health centers, bridges and social programs.
Thus, Peru managed to consolidate as Latin America's leading country in social policy, he highlighted.
An education reform was also built by increasing investments from 2.95% to 4% of GDP.
"We can't move forward without education. It is the key to beat poverty; that's why we invest in higher education and schools. We must continue making progress to ensure quality education for youngsters," Mr. Humala stressed.
"Despite the obstacles found on our way, we don't stop working; we are a family that does not get intimidated; we remain united [...]," he expressed.
The Head of State made remarks in the inauguration ceremony of Jaen's Airport in Cajamarca region.
This project entailed an investment worth S/10 million (about US$3.00 million).
