Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Wednesday supervised Las Palmas Air Base in Lima's Surco district, the venue where Pope Francis is scheduled to hold a papal mass on Sunday.
The statesman was joined by Defense Minister Jorge Kisic, the Head of the Papal Visit Organization Committee in Peru Alfonso Grados, Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani, and Apostolic Nuncio Nicola Girasoli.
As is known, the Supreme Pontiff currently visits
Chile as part of his South American tour.
His arrival is slated for Thursday at 5:20 PM (local time) at Air Group N°8, where he will be welcomed by
President Kuczynski.
He will travel to Puerto Maldonado —the capital of rainforest Madre de Dios region— on the following day.
Pope Francis' visit to La Libertad region's capital city Trujillo is slated for January 20.
According to schedule, the Supreme Pontiff will hold a multitudinous mass at Lima's Las Palmas Air Base on January 21.
This will be the first time —in almost 30 years— that a Pope visits the Inca nation.
As is known, His Holiness Pope John Paul II traveled to Peru back in May 1988.
