Peru President inaugurates educational center in Huanuco region

Peruvian President Ollanta Humala participated in the ceremony marking the inauguration of the “Juan Jose Crespo y Castillo” educational center located in Ambo province, Peru's Nothern Huanuco region.

Rooms, libraries, physics-, chemistry labs, a sports court, nursing room and a semi-Olympic pool have been implemented at the compound.

On the other hand, the President reminded reforms introduced by his administration to enhance education quality in Peru.

“We have transformed the country through education, and that fills us with pride,” he told the audience.

It must be noted the Peruvian government invests at least 3.5% of GDP for the said purposes. According to the Head of State, the goal for the Bicentennial year (2021) is to exceed 6%.

"The current administration’s priority is education […]. Education is the best tool to eradicate poverty," he added.

The Head of State was joined by Deputy Minister of Institutional Management Juan Pablo Silva during the ceremony.
