Peru will gear up full-time to be fully prepared for the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski affirmed today.

"We are ready. We've appointed a new executive to be in charge of everything. He has a board of directors and we will work non-stop in this. Yes, of course we will make it," he expressed.

Following former Organizing Committee Chairman Luis Salazar's resignation, Carlos Neuhaus was appointed as his successor.

On other matters, the Head of State proved satisfied with the legislative package granted by Parliament.

"I'd like to congratulate Prime Minister [Fernando Zavala] and the ministers who have worked in this, and I'd also like to express my appreciation to Congress," he said.

Regarding the legislative powers' term, he referred the reduction to 90 days is "not the end of the world." As is known, the Executive had originally requested 120.

"If they [Congress] grant 90 days, then we'll work with 90. We'll cover everything because it involves various ministries. Hopefully, we will be able to issue regulations on citizen security in four to five weeks," he said.

Said measures would include the whistleblower reward and penitentiary systems, the top official anticipated.

Remarks were made as statements to the press after supervising Jaen province hospital (Cajamarca region), where President Kuczynski is currently on a work visit including meetings with Northern Macro Region governors.
