Peru’s President Ollanta Humala assured the Peruvian government will undertake efforts to relocate families affected by the landslides in Chosica and Santa Eulalia districts (Lima region).

“I have learned the registration [process] of the affected ones is complete, so we can shelter adequately the people, who lost their houses,” the President told, while conducting a site inspection in Santa Eulalia.

It is located in the Huarochiri province (Lima region). Today, the government declared a 45-day Emergency in the district due to the natural disaster.

Mr. Humala also promised the affected families will not be left behind.

He went on to add people, who lost everything, could be even moved to the city of Lima.

“The relocation will not necessarily be to the affected districts. We have other zones in Lima, where we can relocate you. It is preferable this way, so you can be sure your entire life’s efforts will not be taken away by a landslide,” he suggested.

The Head of State urged the residents to “respect” the measures taken by the National Institute for Civil Defense (Indeci).

“We are going to assist you. Be sure about that. We have to work together,” he stated.

Mr. Humala was accompanied by First Lady, Nadine Heredia; and Development and Social Inclusion Minister, Paola Bustamante, among other officials.

It must be noted the Government has also declared a 60-day Emergency in Chosica following the extreme infrastructure destruction caused by the landslide, which stated on Monday.
