Peru's gas massification constitutes a policy that must remain in place during the next administration, President Ollanta Humala announced on Tuesday.

The Head of State also stressed such initiative has contributed to significant progress throughout his time in office.

In 2011, there were 30,000 household gas connections. Currently, such figure climbed to 450,000; most of them installed across Lima region.

"We consider the next administration must continue to expand gas massification nationwide," the top official indicated.

Moreover, he reminded his regime managed to recover Lot 88 reserves for the domestic market and execute the Southern Peru Pipeline project, with a completion rate of 35%, that generates thousands of jobs.

Under this approach, Mr. Humala stressed the Energy Social Inclusion Fund (FISE) program, which supports several local families living in poverty and extreme poverty.

As is known, FISE is a State program through which people can have access to cheaper gas.

Finally, he assured the Government will continue developing major projects linked to educational, health and infrastructure reforms.

Remarks were made in the inauguration ceremony of an educational center located in Cusco's La Convencion province.
