On behalf of Peruvian government and people, Head of State Pedro Pablo Kuczynski expressed condolences to Italian President Sergio Mattarella over the 6.2-magnitude earthquake, which recently devastated the European country.

In a message, Peru's top official expressed solidarity with Italy's government and people, the Foreign Affairs Ministry confirmed.

Likewise, Mr. Kuczynski hoped damaged areas will recover, and thus allow calm and peace to reign in regions Abruzzo, Lazio, Marche and Umbria, where many Peruvian citizens had settled.

The quake left at least 120 dead and some 368 injured, according to AFP.
