Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Tuesday affirmed the economy is doing much better due to stronger exports, which will lead to a rapid national expansion.

"The economy is performing better, and results will be seen this year," he told RPP radio and TV station.

Exports have risen more than 20% so far this year, and this will have a rapid impact on growth, he said.

June's increase in productive activity is explained by the positive evolution of external demand, underpinned by a 31.5% rise in total export volumes, according to National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI).

The Head of State emphasized that large mining and port projects are steaming ahead. Plus, he noted the exponential growth in agro-exports.

According to the 78-year-old, Peru is the second strongest Pacific Alliance country —financially speaking— after Chile.

Moreover, the statesman called for optimism and urged citizens not to let themselves be persuaded by what they read or hear out there.

"We are working hard to move the country forward."
