Peru President chairs Council of State on public safety, fight against drug trafficking

Peru’s President Ollanta Humala, is leading a new session of the Peruvian Council of State, which brings heads of state-run organizations together to address issues such as public safety and fight against drug trafficking.

The meeting, held at the Government Palace, seeks to strengthen the joint work of all branches of government to address those problems that limit and hinder development of different areas in Peru.

The gathering will also arrange the necessary coordination between the Ministry of Interior, the Judiciary, and the Public Ministry, in a bid to achieve more effectiveness in the fight against organized crime and deliver timely justice.

The Council of State is led by the Peruvian Head of State and joined by President of Congress, Ana Maria Solorzano; Head of the Judiciary, Victor Ticona; Cabinet Chief, Pedro Cateriano; Attorney General of Peru, Pedro Sanchez; and Comptroller General, Fuad Khoury.

Also attending the session are Interior Minister, Jose Luis Perez Guadalupe; Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Gustavo Adrianzen; Agriculture Minister, Juan Manuel Benites; Minister of Energy and Mines, Rosa Maria Ortiz; Deputy Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Manuel Miranda; and Head of Peru’s National Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat), Tania Quispe.
