Peru President attends Moreno's presidential inauguration

El presidente peruano, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, asiste esta mañana a la sesión solemne de investidura del nuevo mandatario de Ecuador, Lenín Moreno, en la ciudad de Quito.

11:03 | Quito (Ecuador), May. 24.

Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Wednesday morning attends the inauguration of Ecuadorian President-elect Lenin Moreno.

The ceremony takes place at the National Assembly headquarters.

At the site, the Head of State is joined by Foreign Affairs Minister Ricardo Luna and Peruvian Ambassador to Ecuador Hugo Otero.

In this sense, Mr. Kuczynski's visit to the northern country will help reinforce bilateral relations, uniting both nations, as well as regional integration.

It must be noted Peru's top official held an audience with Lenin Moreno at Lima-based Government Palace on May 9.

On that occasion, the meeting addressed trade, economy and democracy-related issues, plus Latin American countries' need to work together.

Said gathering was part of Mr. Moreno's first overseas trip, which also comprised a stop in Bogota (Colombia).

Mr. Moreno won April's presidential election in his homeland defeating opponent Guillermo Lasso in the runoff. Thus, he will succeed Rafael Correa.
