From the Congress headquarters, Peruvian President Ollanta Humala addressed the nation by delivering his traditional July 28th Presidential Message, which marked the 194th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Peru.

Upon arrival at the Legislative Branch’s headquarters, members of the Military welcomed the Head of State with corresponding honors. At the site, Mr. Humala reviewed the troops.

A couple minutes later, he was welcomed by the Congress Welcoming Commission, presided over by opposition Congressman Juan Diaz Dios, who accompanied the Head of State to the Parliament’s plenary session room.

Once in the room, Congress Chairman Luis Iberico greeted the President and introduced him to the attendees.

Mr. Humala spoke before legislators, Prime Minister Pedro Cateriano and the remaining 18 Cabinet members.
