The 90-day legislative powers' period granted by Congress means the Executive will have to speed up measures implementation, President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski affirmed today.
"We will not go into details; we will just have to work a bit faster," he said when consulted on the 120-day-term initially requested by the Executive.
Congress on Thursday agreed to grant President Kuczynski's administration legislative powers to rule by decree for 90 days on economy and formalization, public safety, fight against corruption, water and sanitation, as well as Petroperu restructuring.
In this sense, the first laws to be passed in 30 days under the legislative powers will address security issues, as well as certain economic matters, Prime Minister Fernando Zavala informed.
Remarks were made at Jorge Chavez International Airport, prior to Mr. Kuczynski's opening flight departure to Jaen province (Cajamarca region), where he will visit a hospital and hold meetings with regional governors.
The Head of State highlighted this new commercial route will facilitate opening of more domestic tourist destinations and trips to the Inca nation.
"The airport was originally a military air base, now turned into a civil airport by the Peruvian Corporation of Commercial Airports and Aviation (Corpac). Once passenger traffic rises, it will be expanded and probably put up for concession," Mr. Kuczynski expressed.
The top official also assured Jaen-bound flights will facilitate tourist inflow to the Kuelap Fortress, the famous Amazon archaeological site.
