Peru: Politicians and diplomats condemn Nice attack

Peruvian diplomats and politicians condemned and expressed their sentiment towards the assault that has killed more than 80 people in Nice city, France during national day celebrations.

The dignitaries expressed their sympathy after attending a ceremony at the residency of French Ambassador to Peru Fabrice Mauriés.

U.S. Ambassador to Peru Brian A. Nichols regrets that a festive day has turned into a day of mourning.

“We are all in mourning and willing to support them as we always have,” he emphasized.

Environment Minister Manuel Pulgar-Vidal also showed solidarity with France and the victims of the tragedy.

Foreign Affairs Minister Jose Antonio Garcia Belaunde said this unfortunate event has plunged the whole country on its national holiday.

Peruanos Por el Kambio (PPK) congressman Carlos Bruce joined the international commendation. 

Lawmakers Victor Andres Garcia Belaunde (Accion Popular party) and Carlos Tubino (Fuerza Popular party) affirmed the assault has caused commotion and concern. 

Former President Alejandro Toledo and former Culture Minister Susana Baca voiced their pain and solidarity with all the victims. 

President Ollanta Humala and Primer Minister Pedro Cateriano, of course, did likewise.
