First reforms on public safety and a few economic matters will be announced in 30 days as part of legislative powers recently granted to the government, Prime Minister Fernando Zavala informed on Friday.

“A few economic matters, and above all security related issues, are well advanced. Some security issues will be ready in 30 days,” he told RPP radio and TV station.

Zavala explained there was no need to wait for special powers to be granted before taking security related actions and mentioned the reward program, which he described as successful, and the police’s reshuffle as an example.

“We have made a significant progress, but we need to improve the issue with a few laws,” Zavala Lombardi added.

Anti-corruption fight laws will be ready in 60 days, and those on formalization of small-scale and informal mining in 90 days. And, to do so, it is necessary to work together and reach consensus.
