Peru's Prime Minister Fernando Zavala highlighted the articulated efforts of State Justice officials who combat organized crime to restore citizen security in favor of Peruvian nationals.

In this sense, he stressed the recent Police and Public Ministry operation aimed at dismantling a criminal network involved in extortion, contract killing, and land trafficking in southern Lima, which resulted in more than 50 detainees.

Zavala referred to the capture of Chilca Mayor Richard Ramos during such raid, and regretted that officials like him have worked with organized crime figures to promote insecurity across the country, affecting institutions and citizens.

"They [Police and Prosecutor's Office] work closely with the Judiciary to constantly fight this scourge," he was quoted as saying.

Speaking at a press conference to share joint operation efforts, Zavala asked the Prosecutor's Office, the Police and the Judicial Branch to continue these actions, which he believes will have a strong impact on citizen safety.

He also noted President Kuczynski's commitment and political decision to set a number of goals related to citizen security and fight against corruption.
