Data collected at the 2017 census will enable the Peruvian Government to streamline its services and craft new public policies aimed at improving citizens' quality of life, Prime Minister Mercedes Araoz pointed out Sunday.

According to Araoz, said information will help detect problems linked to land titling, drinking water and electrification, as well as assess housing and health issues.

"I believe this census is a very important civic activity that will provide a lot of information to decide which public policies can be implemented in certain areas," she told Andina news agency.

In this sense, the also Second Vice-President projected said results will benefit all Peruvian citizens.

The Head of the Council of Ministers also highlighted the efforts undertaken by volunteers and government officials during the event.

Likewise, she urged Peruvians to participate actively and responsibly in said process.
